Stavros Mastorou’s project examines the idea of the collective unconscious through philosophy, psychoanalysis and Surrealism. It attempts to understand the unconscious through the unconscious itself, in an intertwined path of symbols and entities. Surrealism’s aesthetics underlie as a common denominator in the series, and the Freudian model of psychoanalysis in combination with the Jungian philosophy of archetypes and collective unconscious, inform the research and the practice behind the work.
