PentaPrism was founded in 2014 by Solent University BA Hons Photography students Nisha Haq, Matthew Angell and Joe Rose. As final-year undergraduate students they wanted to produce a showcase of their years’ photography work through open submission, alternative design and a larger format. It proved such a success that each subsequent student third year group have carried on the publication by forming into teams and producing the magazine.
PentaPrism has gone through different iterations over several years, with each editorial team deciding on something specific for each year – such as from making it open submission to all photography year groups, to size and format, to being themed, and so on. Recently it was decided to merge PentaPrism with the course’s degree show catalogue.
Students now take control of the submission, design and publication of the magazine as the platform for their work. In the most recent iteration of PentaPrism, student work will feature in both a physical and online publication.
Currently on the site is our latest issue, issue 10 from the 2022/23 academic year. Previous editions can be found within the ‘Archive’ tab.
