Non Places: The Underground

These images are based around the idea of the London Underground being a “non-place" (a term created by French writer Marc Augé), a space designed with the sole purpose of being passed through or

used by humans. I felt the London Underground was a strong example of a “non-place”, a space in which millions of people pass through each day. My images aim to celebrate the architecture of these Underground stations instead, with the images being devoid of people, removing the very thing these places were designed for.
